Just got access to a G5 iMac - PowerMac 8,1.
Thought Id try Fienix on it with the recent updated 3.0.

Their instructions aren't the best for beginners. The dd instructions lack a very important step after locating your usb name, to dismount it ie
diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk1

However on firing up the usb stick at the the Open Firmware command prompt, typing:

boot ud:2,\\yaboot

all I got was a banded sign.
Under trouble shooting they give instructions for resetting NVRAM...which I did - but not go.

They do say theyve tested on the G5 11,2 and 8,2 so maybe theres an issue with my 8,1.

One factor is the checksum number didn't match...which is un-usual...but being a fairly big file Im reluctant to down load again.

Has anyone had success with installing Fienux 3.0?

Ta wicknix, actually I have been reading your instructions...and thought I will try this...as a plan B, but am still working on finding if I can get it to work the way its meant to.
By the way I discovered my checksum was correct. I mistakenly thought it applied to the gz file but after unzipping it it has the correct number.
