Fiio E10 Volume on iMac

I Hope I'm in the right place, I bought a Fiio E10 Dac, it sounds ok, gets output to my studio monitors, my question is, the Dac has a volume knob, but it doesn't seem to do anything, if I want to increase or decrease the volume I have to use the volume applet on my iMac, thank you for your answers, Oscar

Sounds like you connected it to the line out and not the headphone port.

How are you connecting the DAC to your Mac? It looks to me to have a USB and 75Ω Digital (RCA connector) inputs. I would suggest using the USB cable out of your Mac and into the DAC. Then on your Mac set the volume to maximum and use the DAC as your volume control.

Sorry for the late answer but I haven't been able to use my iMac for a while, I have the connections as you both suggest, a while ago a Navy friend said that apparently I will be able to adjust the volume only if I connect a headphone set, really it doesn't bother me, just asked because it was advertised, thanks.
