I was wondering if there was a specific file in Mac OS X that houses all the File-App associations. A friend of mine says his file-app associations just start randomly resetting themselves to something different, and I was wondering if there was some way I could reset them all to the defaults by deleting a file. I think I remember hearing about this somewhere, but I'm not sure where.

I was also curious if there was a similar file that houses all the file-icon associations.

Or maybe if the associations are not entirely contained in one database file, maybe there's a method (for deleting all files that have the associations, if that's the way the information is stored) to reset all associations to their default values.

Just curious about this.
