File dialogue window size preferences?

This is a petty complaint, but is there a way to have Leopard open file dialogue windows in a preset size to always show ALL the locations on the left (without having to scroll). Is there a global setting somewhere or is it application-specific? (or does it require an Apple Script?).

Dimensions of dialogues are application-specific. Resize dialogue to desired size and it should remains that size next time you open something.
