I am running Snow Leopard and Time Capsule on a 2009 mini. The last few days files have been randomly disappearing from my desktop. I then must search for the files and with no luck cannot find them. I then have to roll back my time capsule to recover the files. I did not initiate the removal of files and no one else has had access to my computer. This has happened twice. Does anyone know how to fix this?

One place to check is the "Desktop" folder in your home. I've been noticing some oddities with files not displaying on the actual desktop, when they've been moved to that folder - maybe this is a related problem?

Home > Library > Preferences
delete com.apple.finder.plist

or com.apple.desktop.plist

But, don't delete them. Move them (perhaps one at a time - so you'll know which one was corrupt) to your Desktop and Restart.

If the file was corrupt (everything seems to work) then Trash it.

If that doesn't help, log in under a different User Account. Create a new one if you have to. If that solves it, Trash the Account that gave you the problems.

Still no joy? Come back for more help. But, I might be out of ideas. Describe what happens when trying the above so someone has more to go on.
