I've noticed this on both of my Macs running 10.10.2. Quite frequently, the usual icons next to files are initially missing and sometimes will eventually load.

This is true for zip files, mp3 files, and application files specific to a certain app but the issues seems random and not related to any specific file types.

Does anybody know of a fix so that the icons are immediately visible as they have been in every previous version of OS X? I'll attach an image where you can see only one .zip file icon appears, and a bunch are missing as well as a .jpg icon

Create a new user, reboot, login to the new user and see if the same thing happens. Standard things I can suggest is to repair permissions and reset PRAM. See if any of these things help.

Thanks, resetting the PRAM didn't help.

My version of OS X is from a new install (I totally wiped the drive) so I don't care to make a new user account and create any additional paths that aren't needed.

Even if a new user account fixed the problem, I wouldn't know how to solve it in the account I regularly use.

I'm hoping there is a real fix for this.

If this is a new install then if the new user account did not show the issue, delete and create your account again. Nothing special to do other then try.
