file restore possible??

Hi all,
I was trying to remove my some files from myDirectory, using terminal

rm -rf *

Accidently i executed that command from Users/myLogin instead of Users/myLogin/myDirectory .

After that, i lost my all created files/folders..

Is any backup possible, eventhough i strongly doubt its not possible...

First, shut down your computer immediately (assuming it's not your only way of getting on the internet!). The longer you let the computer run, the more likely it is that some of the deleted data will get overwritten by new files, and therefore lost forever.

Second, get a copy of Data Rescue II. It will run in trial mode and tell you what files it found - then you can decide whether it's worth purchasing to do the recovery.

Finally, the best way to do the recovery is while booted off another drive. Whether it's an external drive or another Mac in target disk mode (reboot, hold the 'T' key, and your Mac becomes a FireWire drive), if you have something like this available, you can recover with much less chance of overwriting data.
