Dear all

I have a Mac desktop that I routinely connect to my MacBook Pro for file syncing. Obviously I need to have file sharing turned on. Unfortunately when I do this, my Mac desktop appears visible on the wireless network as a shared computer. This makes it insecure (and especially when it shows up as a new Mac Pro, it is tempting to hackers in my large corporate wireless network). In fact, I don't need to connect wirelessly between my desktop and laptop since I use the Thunderbolt bridge. Is there anyway to set my Mac so that file sharing is enabled only on Thunderbolt bridge and not wireless? I know the way to go around this is to enable file sharing only when I do my file syncing, but this would be the last resort. The whole point to doing this is to make things as efficient as possible.

I am unfamiliar with any way to do this with the software that is built in to the system. I would recommend using target disk mode over Firewire or Thunderbolt depending on the capabilities of the machines or invest in an external hard drive if your data is that sensitive to you.
