Got new mavericks on and trying to do file sharing on windows 7, well can see it and all that but when i try to go into mac from windows system keeps asking for username and password and mavericks talking about smb2 but i can only see the normal smb so if someone can help thanks.

if I'm not mistaken, you won't see smb2, but the underlying protocol is actually using Apple's equivalent to Microsoft's smb2 protocol.
so when capable smb = smb2.

ok all good now did workaround thanks, but have noticed i have 4 folders now when you go from windows to mac you have the normal 2 share ones but now there is one called macintosh disk and another one you can go into them but cant do anything is this normal under mavericks or not.
