Hello guys, I need your input as I recently bought a white macbook and no longer have to deal with the horrors of a PC. I want to transfer all of my files onto the macbook through a Western Digital My Passport external hard drive, the problem is that I've read reviews stating that while the specs say that is both Mac and PC compatible, people report the device not working on macs. Has anyone used this product? Thanks for the help.

Works for Me

The drive is most likely formatted NTFS, so your Mac will not, by default, be able to write to it, but should be able to read from it. If you need to write to it on the Mac, you can solve this with MacFUSE and the NTFS-3g driver, which give Macs the ability to write to NTFS drives.

Have you plugged it in and tried it? It should read just fine by default.

If you will only be using it with your MB or another Mac, I'd reformat it as HFS+. After copying everything off, of course.
