I have a Mac at home, but i do carry documents back to campus and work on them from time to time. Is there any software or existing features in OSX which keeps the folder in my USB-Memory card in sync with the files and folder in my computer?

Like the windows' Briefcase function.

No automatic sync that I'm aware of, but you can set up a Chronosync profile to carry out the sync, which you can run whenever you want. With some folder action ingenuity or Hazel you can monitor the /Volumes folder and trigger the sync when you insert your memory card.

Or you could use something like DropBox
