I have a Mac at home, but i do carry documents back to campus and work on them from time to time. Is there any software or existing features in OSX which keeps the folder in my USB-Memory card in sync with the files and folder in my computer?

    Like the windows' Briefcase function.

You might be able to set up a Synchronized Folder through the OS on your USB memory card and sync it to the folder that you want. Let me know if that helps.

No automatic sync that I'm aware of, but you can set up a Chronosync profile to carry out the sync, which you can run whenever you want. With some folder action ingenuity or Hazel you can monitor the /Volumes folder and trigger the sync when you insert your memory card.

Or you could use something like DropBox
