I’ve been doing a bunch of thinking about how my current workflows on a Mac or PC may allow me to “actually use the Vision Pro for work.” And by that I mean, use the device comfortably for work related tasks.
Most of my work activity can and is done on the web via G Suite - Gmail, drive, docs, sheets etc. in combination with a desktop-style file system, and a smattering of MS Office, mostly with word. I download a lot of documents for review and attach them to emails and then file away in g suite etc.
Most of this interaction relates on being able to drag and drop within finder or windows explorer, into a web browser field like an email I am drafting or Google drive, and accessing files I’ve downloaded.
Vision OS is somewhere between iPad OS and MacOS. So the extent to which it is more “Mac like” with drag and drop features within the files app and between the files app and safari is going to be a big determinant of if I can use the VP natively for work instead of relying on the screen mirroring. I doubt anyone has any insights yet based on the controlled demos but I will be eager to learn more about this and whether the files and safari app are “desktop class” or more mobile in nature.
