We have a Mac OS X Server used to give students and instructors folders in which to store their documents from the Mac computer labs. In trying to copy a file from the desktop of a lab computer by a student into an instructor's drop box, the copy will proceed fine according to the message displayed but most times the file never shows up in the instructor's dropbox. I have not been able to determine what factors cause the file to not actually get copied. Is there a file size limit? An extension problem with the filename? What could be going on here that the file will not be saved in the dropbox folder? Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. The lab computers are running Snow Leopard and the server is Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). Could this be the problem?
