files emailed from my Windows PC show up as one "win.dat" file on Mac and iPhone

I mean WTF, over. I have been emailing myself files... mostly photos... back and forth forever but today all I receive on my Mac and iPhone is a win.dat file that can't be opened. I changed over to the webmail app on the PC and resent them and it worked. But not from Outlook. Is there a fix?
