Files not showing on desktop

Whenever I download something or create a new folder through file>new folder, It doesn't show up on the desktop but does show up in the folder desktop (in a finder window). If I drag a file to the desktop or right click>new folder, they show up on the desktop. This has only started since I upgraded to leopard. Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know of possible solutions. This is very annoying and I'd like to fix it soon.

after 3 weeks of it acting wierd, I post my problem and it went away. I guess the bug was scared of macrumors and just flew off.

I have this problem too from time to time. Logging out and logging back in solved it (temporarely..)
