Do home directories on a Samba fileserver still work? This is rather important for our environment where I work.

I should probably start doing some testing, but we don't typically update to new OS X releases until they've been out six months or so. I had enough pain getting El Capitan to work with Samba 4.

IMHO, it is an "old" way of synchronising (often used for backup) a user's Home directory.
Now with iCloud in 10.12, Desktop and Documents can be synced with the user's iCloud drive.

Given Apple's statement, I should not expect synchronisation.

Synchronization has never worked properly. I'm talking about network home directories in general.
