Filevault performance on 2016 Macbook

Hi there,

Has anyone tried FileVault on the 2016 MacBook and if so noticed any performance degradation?

I have FileVault enabled on all my Macs. Not done any back to back but find situation perfectly acceptable.

My understanding is that the main effect is a small penalty during boot up while the drive is unlocked.

Don't really notice it much other than during boot. 2016 rMB is suppose to be much better than 2015 per Ars review.

I never shut it down, I just let it go into standby so bootup time should not be an issue.

Looks like the newer model is much better with File Vault enabled

Performance on the new MacBook is dramatically better whether it’s encrypted or not,

I didn't realize the older model bogged down a bit with File Vault

I have turned it on on my rMB. So far there is no noticeable performance degradation.

Mine is on, same here no performance penalty.
