Is there a way to put a windows explorer style filing system and organised window snapping on macOS?

As far as snapping goes I have found that Magnet in the App Store is awesome, maybe even a little better than the Windows function.

And far as file management goes Finder does a lot of the same things that Windows Explorer does. Maybe I misunderstood what you are meaning though.

I find that finder is nowhere near as good as windows explorer. Its hard to organise files in there.

This might keep you busy, there’s currently 22 possible replacements suggested at AlternativeTo: Finder. Among them there will be some abandonware, others left behind by Apple’s onward march of OSs, there’s a number of them inspired by Total Commander, and some have SFTP and FTP built in.

I haven’t done more than dip a toe into Finder alternatives. I tried Raskin years ago, just checking it out again, it seems to have fallen into the ‘abandonware’ bucket (last update 2.0 beta 20, 2014), that’s too bad as it really holds some promise.

Out of interest, what workflows are you missing in the Finder?

I use PathFinder mostly instead of Finder on the Mac - pretty good app. A Finder replacement rather than a window snapping app.

But Magnet is awesome. Just bought it and can see me using it a lot!
