Filtering unread emails on an iPhone

Is there anyway to do this with the built in Mail app? I just want to view my unread emails.

Yes there is. Launch native Mail app on your iOS device, iPhone in this case, tap Edit in top right corner, and select Unread for type of inboxes.

As far I recall this has been true since iOS 6 till present - iOS 9.0.2.

In that case it seem like it wasn't the case back in 2010 when this thread was created and finished with.

Waw! I didn't know that either! great one!

I have another question for this in the apple mail app. It always opens in the first inbox, not in the 'unread' or 'today', which is kinda annoying. is there a setting that can change that too?
