Ok, So I just went out and upgraded to Final Cut Express 4, and I'm probably going to have a few questions in the next few days.

My first problem, I've imported my project from iMovie, and when I go to play the video in the "Canvas" screen, the video goes blank and it says "Movie Unrendered" every time I play it, but works when I play it in the "viewer" screen. What's up?

What's up is that iMovie and FCE/FCP handle video very differently. iMovie uses a DV stream codec, while FCE/FCP uses a different codec (DV NTSC or DV PAL).

In FCE/FCP's when you load a clip in FCE/FCP's Viewer window, it plays at the clip's native settings (much like opening a video file in QT Player). But as soon as you place it in the Sequence (Timeline), it plays at the Sequence settings. If the clip didn't match the Sequence settings, you will have to render.

All of this is covered very thoroughly in the FCE Help Files/user manual.
