Final cut express and Sony sr11

Fce will not import my movies from my sony sr11. It finds them but then it just gives me a red exclamation mark. Anybody know how to get the movies into final cut express 4?

If you have any SD video on the cam, you have to delete it before importing HD video. Another way is if you have iMovie 8/9, you can import there, save it, then import to FCE. Both use AIC. I have to do this to get it in FCE 3.5 since this version does not support AVCHD.

Have you used the Log & Transfer window (manual page 224)?

log and transfer window comes up , finds the video but hangs at the import window just giving me the red exclamation mark after about a minute ....
