Final Cut Express Capture Settings for Canon HDD

Hi

Running an iMac (details below) and FC Express. Trying to import HD vid from a CANON Hard Disc Drive camera and can't get computer to recognize the camera. The output on the camera is a flat plug that goes to a USB (on the Mac end).

Ideas for settings?
