I have been trying to export to Quicktime a movie finished in Final Cut Express. I am somewhat new to the program, but have successfully exported before.

I have already rendered both the audio and video. and when I try to export, I get either a "File I/O Error" or Final Cut Express "Quits unexpectedly".

I am using:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

Final Cut Express 4.0.1

Hey,

I'm not sure what the problem is with your movie, but I would recommend something.

Try deleting your Final Cut Express preference file (see Picture). To do so, do the following:

Go your MACINTOSH HD folder, then to USERS, then to your USERNAME FOLDER, go to the LIBRARY, then to go PREFERENCES, and find and delete the COM.APPLE.FINALCUTEXPRESS file.

If that doesn't work, try to repair permissions.

Also, when you export, try using QUICKTIME CONVERSION (see picture).

I use FCE a lot, and I rarely have problems. But I know how frustrating it is to not be able to export.

So let me know if this, and my other suggestion won't work.
