Final Cut Express Video Capturing

So i've connected my DV camera into my computer, its been recognized by final cut, and will let me import (capture). But when i go to import it doesnt divide the footage into clips as its being captured. Is there a way to modify this? Or does it divide after its done importing? Or not at all?

In FCE, you can split the a long clip, based on time-code, by doing the following:

1. First select the long clip that you want to split you.
2. Go to MARK in the MenuBar.
3. Select DV/START/STOP.
