Final Cut Pro 10 - capture

I've tried capturing video from my mini dv camera via firewire. It starts off ok but I only see approximately 1:50 mins of it. I don't know if it stops capturing at that time or not. When I want to close FCP10, it says there background tasks running, such as rendering. How long does rendering take for 45 mins of video capturing?

I'm a newbie to FCP10 and need help. Does anyone have a guide to capturing video?
