Also, is C2D that much faster than CD?
Only about 10% at the same clock speed.
Honestly I really wouldn't agonize over it unless the new laptops lack a key feature you specifically need. If you made the purchase 3 months ago would still want to sell it? For years people professionals who required mobility ran FCP on single chip G4 laptops. I think you'll be okay.

You need to modify a file so the program stops looking for an AGP gfx card. Or you could upgrade to the UB version as phoenix9744 suggested (but it's not required).

I think you are looking for a larger amount of shared memory for the Intel integrated graphics. If you mean a separate dedicated graphics chipset like in a MacBook Pro then tipdrill is certainly correct. That's not likely to ever happen again.is there any chance apple might update the macbook line so it has actual graphics memory?
True enough with regards to separate ATI Mobility etc. But I wouldn't say not soon unless you think late Spring '07 is not soon for improved MacBook IG performance. Much Improved IG in MacBooks should be a part of the next refresh when Santa Rosa - (scroll down half way to the Santa Rosa 2007 section) comes out then:Not any time soon, the graphics chip right now is really the only thing that distinguishes the Macbook from the Macbook Pro. Also the graphics chip has absolutely NO impact on video editing performance unless you plan on using motion.
This will also become the next MacBook Pro foundation. Graphics are not the only difference between MacBook and MacBook Pro. There are many other differences that are obvious.Santa Rosa platform (2007)
The code-name Santa Rosa refers to the fourth-generation Centrino platform, scheduled for release in March 2007 with the following features:[1][2]
second generation Intel Core 2 processor (code named Merom) that uses Socket P
800 MT/s front side bus with Dynamic Front Side Bus Switching to save power during low utilization
Intel Mobile 965 Express chipset (code named Crestline) with Intel's GMA X3000 graphics technology
Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n mini-PCIe Wi-Fi adapter (code named Kedron)
NAND flash-memory caching (code-named Robson)
WWAN Internet access via HSDPA codeveloped with Nokia (code-named Windigo) [1][2]
EFI, a successor to BIOS
Intel Dynamic Acceleration (IDA), better Windows Vista Aero support [3]
Support for WiMAX (802.16) was originally scheduled for inclusion in Santa Rosa but has now been dropped and will come in 2008 as part of Montevina [4]. There has been reports that WiMax may still be included in the 2007 release.
The Santa Rosa platform will be branded as "Centrino Pro".[5]
