Final Cut Pro X 10.4 Released With Support for 360º VR Video Editing, HDR and HEVC Video, and Much More

Finally, 360° video editing comes to Apple's own video-editing software! Several Windows consumer video editing programs have come with this ability for quite some time, such as Cyberlink PowerDirector and Corel VideoStudio.
Also, now that it's out, I'm going to let my college's TV studio know so they can purchase and download it once they get around to doing so (probably during the winter break.) As I mentioned, our TV studio's director wasn't too keen on FCP X when it came out six years ago, but now he likes it a lot, especially with all the professional features they've been adding back to it (and this update is no exception). Our theater technical director is also sick of editing stuff on the theater department's 21" iMac using iMovie and wants Final Cut on it as well.
As for me, I still love Final Cut Pro X, and I use it as my main video editor for YouTube Poops or any other elaborate video productions. It even runs great on my quad-core 2012 Mac Mini with 16 GB of RAM, even when editing 1080 HD video!

So I downloaded 10.4 yesterday and yesterday evening I recorded my daughter's concert performance. I loaded that into 10.4 last night and cut a new video of about an hour in length. Nothing dramatic, single 1080p video at 72mbps with overlaid audio and two layers of titling and graphics.
I was finding it fairly laggy and it even dropped frames. This is on a 2017 iMac 3.4 i5 with the 2TB fusion and 40GB ram. The previous 10.3 version of FCPX was buttery smooth. 10.4 was not.
Now one could be a conspiracy theorist and suggest that Apple is making it worse so encourage users to get the iMac Pro. Coincidence?

It seems faster for me, except when it crashes.
