Hey all, sorry for the newbie question.

Is it possible to edit breaths / background noise out of audio in Final Cut Pro (or is Audacity easier).

I'm editing an interview (audio only) between two people & hoping to edit them as separate audio tracks

Unless the breaths/background noise is on a separate track it's most unlikely.

Thanks so much!
The background noise is only from one subject (it was a phone interview), so I'm hoping to lower that persons audio. Do you know if there's a way to separate the audio tracks in the Timeline? In the Audio Configuration box, it list two Dialogue bars.

I think this is possible. I’d search on YouTube for tutorials on this.

It might be easier to separate the audio track, copy it, then process it elsewhere and replace it. In FCPX you can isolate bits of audio and adjust the volume. You would have to do this manually for each breath.

Select the clip in the timeline, then CTRL-SHIFT-S (or using the mouse, go to Clip > Detach Audio).
