When I make a split screen on FCE, the video seems to lose quality. What is the best way to make split screens without losing video quality? Thanks.

Well it's not going to look perfect on the live preview unless you have a beast mac pro. If you render and export it and it still looks bad, then there's something wrong with one of your settings.

Just click the motion tab and decrease the size of the image to fit half the screen and then do the same for a second video track but place it on the other half of the screen. There is no way that the quality of the picture should be diminshed.

sorry I failed to mention that I am putting the video up on youtube/google video. what is the best setting to have the split screen the clearest possible? the settings I have are:

Video: H.264- 320x240 QVGA, Deinterlaced Source Video, Current FPS, KeyFrame24, Quality= High

Audio: AAC, Mono, 44.1, Best

Thanks.
