Massively. Hope they do more than just port it over. FF7 is my favourite game of all time but those buttery smooth rendered environments from the CRT days look a bit blocky on an HD screen. Controls also a bit average on the touch screen.

I'd imagine that we'd get smoothed out textures at best. It'll still, quite likely, look like a game from the year it originally came out. The best we can hope for is what they did for FFT.

I just got FF7 and it's pretty cool (more for the nostalgia factor seeing as I've played it several times since it came out when I was a teenager). Is FF8 out for iOS? That's one I'd like to play again. I've never played FF9, as it came out after I had joined the military and wasn't really playing PS games anymore.

I'm definitely looking forward to this. If companies keep doing this, people might realize it isn't impossible to do "real gaming" on an iPad.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

It's very difficult to hardcore game on an iPad, and I love my iPad (addicted to Hero Emblems currently). The lack of proper tactile input just kills these systems, which is why touch-screen specific games thrive. Playing any kind of game with a virtual joystick sucks all the enjoyment out of games for me, which is why I've no interest in playing FF on an iOS device (and don't get me started on all the crap MFi controllers out there...).

My family got me the Nimbus controller from the Apple Store for Christmas and it has been excellent. Why do you think it's crap? FF7 has worked great with it, as have games like Minecraft and Lego Star Wars.

The Nimbus is one of the first actually relatively decent pads. It's a shame there's no rumble (Apple's fault).

But here's the thing. If I'm going to use a gamepad with an iPad, I'd rather just play on my Vita or 3DS...

Well, I am very much not a hardcore gamer so I don't have either of those platforms; for casual gaming though I've found the Nimbus to really make gaming on my iPad palatable. Primarily, playing Minecraft with my daughter isn't a pain in the wrist anymore.

For my money, nothing is more hardcore than the Grand Strategy games that I want to come out. We will likely never see a CoD, but first comes FF and next comes Crusader Kings.

I would love to see A Final Unity (old DOS Star Trek game) come out on the iPad; it was all click-and-go gaming so it would fit in well on iOS. Maybe someday... :)

Fair enough. We were having this conversation right before I had to head out. So I said what the heck - and picked up a Nimbus at the Apple Store. Not a bad gamepad, as the reviews point out! It works well with the iPad Pro. Thumb sticks are too close to each other, mind. But it's the best option out there.

I would lose my **** if Paradox released some iOS games. Hell, I'd be happy with a decent version of Civ. I can't believe how rare that type of game is on a platform so well suited for them - outside of the many hardcore military hex games out there.

FFIX was a great game, this is one of the only FF titles I would buy as I think it's more timeless than the others of the era. A lot of whimsey and old school design and the game doesn't take itself as seriously as 8 and to an extent 7.

its an interesting video for the whole 9 seconds worth of real gameplay it shows. the rest of the video is just in game cinematic which shows zero real gameplay. I would have to see real gameplay footage to decide wether i get excited for it.

It's going to basically be an emulation of the PSX version, so if you've seen that...
