iPod touch Final iPod Touch 5g predictions

Since rumors are suggesting a minor update, this is what I think would appear in the next iPod touch release.

A5 Processor
Increase to 512MB RAM
Rear Camera improves to 2-3 Megapixels
The addition of a white mode
The likelihood of 128GB model appearing is as likely as the 16GB model making its return.

Putting flash will make the itouch slight bulky. And probably prices of each gb will increase though.

Flash memory prices have been dropping since it came out.

Thats how iPhone 2g had 4GB to iPhone4 which has 32Gb now

128GB model: unlikely, not impossible. I hope so.
16BG model: hope to see this as the low-end iPT. We'll see.

Pretty much agree with rest.

(Would be dumb of Apple not to give it some upgrades.).

Seems realistic to me, although I think they might get away with not updating the camera this year.

Too much and too close to the iPhone

GPS, FM radio, IPS, 512MB RAM, better rear camera, LED flash.

GPS will be there if 3G is there
FM radio, doubt it there isn't any tuners in previous gens
IPS- this would be interesting if the touch can receive this
512 MB RAM- basically a must since Jobs claimed it as a gaming device
Better Rear Camera is a lock- Apple must have put 0.7mp last year to upgrade it this year for people to buy the models annually.
LED flash- still think it will be reserved for iPhone

That's probably all that is going to happen. Many are waiting for that magical 128GB so they can switch from their classics, but I don't think it'll happen.

In fact, with the iCloud service, I'm not sure if there will be any capacity updates for a long time, if ever.

- No 128GB model but maybe replacing the 8GB model with a 16GB model

Your right. because based on some latest rumors, they will not do major upgrades. the same in the past touch 2g and touch 3g

Flash memory prices have been dropping since it came out.

Thats how iPhone 2g had 4GB to iPhone4 which has 32Gb now

hmm I agree sorry my bad, but based on my last check on some rumors, they will not make some major upgrades so maybe 64gb is still the max.

The prepaid phone

While the A5/512MB/1080p is a sure bet, it will be much more interesting to see a 3G+GPS be added at $100 over the WiFi only model.

3G+GPS for the iPad is nice to have but for the much more mobile iPod, it is a killer feature.

Coupled with an iPad-like data plan and iMesseges, the iPod Touch with 3G at $299 with no contract would be a fantastic device to give as a gift.

Wow, we have exactly the same wishes...well I would put in iPhone4's camera instead of 4s's one.

Anyways that would look nothing like the iPhone, iPhone5 would have 8MP camera, 1GB ram, 3.7 - 4.0 in screen, 1080p hd recording. Apple most likely wouldn't put them because of the lack of competition.

While the A5/512MB/1080p is a sure bet, it will be much more interesting to see a 3G+GPS be added at $100 over the WiFi only model.

Woah slow down buddy, A5 512MB and 1080p are anything but sure locks.

A5 may not be in the 5g touch because of overheating problems(in rumors several months ago)

512 MB RAM should be included once again, rumors have it that there won't be much internal upgrades.

1080p I don't see it happening since the 4g just got 720p

Don't get me wrong, these would be great additions but the likelihood of them is slim.

Think out of the box a little

This has just been on my mind, but while I was thinking about why apple hasn't come out with the new iPhone I thought that apple just might be doing something to kind of combine the iPhone and itouch by making a contract phone version, a pay by you go version (so you don't have to pay that outrageous phone bill) and a non phone (regular itouch with all the perks of an iPhone). Tell me what you think, just don't be to harsh because as I said I don't think this has a good chance of happening. Apples most likely late because of Steve's absence.

Don't be so fast to assume everyone thinks the same. I do care a lot, in fact it's the only thing that would make me go and buy the new model. I do a lot of multitasking on my itouch, jailbreak style, so i need as much memory as i can get. 'Working properly' is just subjective on this matter

Very doubtful about A5 chip on iPod touch.

Samsung and apple are going at each other with these law suits. Samsung wants 2.7% royalties on each chips they give it to apple and they are going at it.

Apple has no choice, but to put A5 chip on iPhone 5 because it needs to stay with competition.

They need all the A5 chips into iPhone 5 and not iPod touch.


I expect apple to...

1. Same A4 Chip and maybe faster Speed.
2. 512 MB ram instead of 256 MB
3. White model
4. Have a nice day and see you next year.

So true. I am running Google Music Beta on my prepaid Android, Which has a measly 8GB SD card in it for music, but I no longer need any storage for music. The Android with the cloud based Google Music has essentially replaced my iPod classic.
