If its going to have all that, the price is definetly going to raise higher, atleast 40 bucks more:eek:

You obviously do not know how high Apple's profit margins are?

Don't be so fast to assume everyone thinks the same. I do care a lot, in fact it's the only thing that would make me go and buy the new model. I do a lot of multitasking on my itouch, jailbreak style, so i need as much memory as i can get. 'Working properly' is just subjective on this matter

Developers care a lot about 512mb.

512 MB RAM is a must.
Very doubtful about A5 chip on iPod touch.

Samsung and apple are going at each other with these law suits. Samsung wants 2.7% royalties on each chips they give it to apple and they are going at it.

Apple has no choice, but to put A5 chip on iPhone 5 because it needs to stay with competition.

They need all the A5 chips into iPhone 5 and not iPod touch.

I expect apple to...

1. Same A4 Chip and maybe faster Speed.
2. 512 MB ram instead of 256 MB
3. White model
4. Have a nice day and see you next year.

True but one has to think that Apple also has to improve on the 0.7 Megapixel camera.

Agreed. I find the RAM on my 4th gen too definitely be the bottleneck in most cases when I see performance issues.

Agreed.

I think the next iPod Touch might as be called iPad2 Mini. It will have all of the exact same iPad specs and features, except for the screen size/resolution of course. Like the iPad, they should even offer a 3G version for $100 extra for those who don't want to be tied to an iPhone plan (so basically, it would of course be an iPhone w/o the phone plan).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

- same cameras
- olephobic coating on screen
- 512MB RAM
- 16GB, 32GB, 64GB capacities
- white model in addition to black
- A5 chip

That's it.

Yeah they should, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will. I only expect the 512MB of ram and the A5 chip. White and black colors. That's it. Maybe i'm a pessimist but i dont really expect them to upgrade it that much.

If they go the same route as last year, we'll see 1gb RAM in the iPhone5 and 512mb in the iPod Touch (just like the iPad).

That could make sense if the supposed voice features are iPhone5 only, although the iPhone4's RAM bump it might just have been a one-time thing.

What will an olephobic coating on screen do for the display?

Very few fingerprints since the screen is oil repelling.

Micro oil particles will instead stick on your finger rather than to the screen which translates to fingerprints currently.

As much as I would love Apple to release an iPod touch with all these features - I don't think they're going to do it because its not like they need to - they are well ahead and no company will be coming near them in the near few years.

On the other hand, the iPhone, has the Samsung Galaxy S II to compete with.

Oh, and the iPad Mini idea just ruins the whole iPod bit of the iPod touch, its called an iPod for a reason, y'know. :L

There is a samsung galaxy wifi only(No 3G) that the iPod touch has to compete with

512 MB RAM
Improved Camera Sensor
Oleophobic Screen
White Color
Improved Ambient Light Sensor
199$ or 16GB model

My predictions for the iPod touch 5G (20:40 EST)

Let see how much I get correct.

What the Touch is going to have to compete with is the Kindle Fire. I think that will be a good thing as Apple needs to feel pressure to innovate with the Touch. The KF has a 7 inch screen.. balls in your court Apple.

Increasing one or more of ram, cpu, memory, camera specs will happen but it isn't going to be much of an incentive for me to replace my current 4G ipod.

The only thing that would make me upgrade is a GPS or user removable battery. The former will probably not happen, the later will definitely not happen as heaven forbid it adds a micron or two to the thickness or makes the device last a bit longer.

"Well... that was pointless"

All of us was blind sided by the lack of updates , its like the Pirates winning the World Series, no one ever expects that.

But until someone open the ipod touch internally, there may still be 512MB RAM inside it. Apple never reveal RAM updates.

Until they can read the part number of the chip we can only guess, it doesn't make sense to me to have to make a separate part with just 256Mb Ram when they can just use the same CPU chip for the iPhone4 and Touch. It might be possible to do some speed tests to indicate the Ram too.
