I'd be careful about using another heatsink. I've heard the B/W ZIF can crush or get damaged with a hs that's too heavy.

This is a good idea, but can you recommend a fan that would sit on the HS?

I think a socket A pc cpu fan is what guys in the upgrade reviews at accelerate your mac have been using on b&w's. they screw right onto it. not sure how you power them though but there is a way to as many others have done this.

as long as you can keep an overclocked chip cool then all will be well. the combo of the paste and fan will bring any cpu down 15-25c. also, the b&w is just a great machine and has pretty good air circulation. its also a very reliable tower with a good logic board. most of all the rev. B models. they are the kind of towers worthy of being used and upgraded till they no longer can be used or upgraded. good luck to all you b&w owners! :)

You can get a fan power adapter that will allow you to connect it into the regular 4 pin connector.

Do you know if the upgrade will support panther?

yes. all G4 upgrades do from all the companies that make them but only in apple supported models so the blue & white is fine.

I run panther on my blue and white with its sonnet G4 500 and I find my system more stable now then it was with the original G3 350.

chv400, sorry I was out this weekend, I'm not sure If I read you right but here is a screen shot of my "About This Computer" and the Get more Info.

OWC Mercury Z600+ G4 Upgrade

I am now really cosnidering buying this upgrade instead of the 800mhz one from sonnet. Does anyone know anything about the quality of this brand, like installation and tech support. I haven't found any reviews on it and there isn't anything extra it tells you about it so I would like to know if this upgrade is worth it.
Does it come with a heat sink because G3s and G4s are very different according to my dad heat wse and physically.
