So I went by the local Apple store with my 2017 15" MBP for comparison with the new 2018 MBP. And here are the results:

Ya True Tone is on for the 2018. Of course it'll look warmer.
I wouldn't mind a bit warmer, honestly. The screen image of my thunderbolt display is quite cool - or well, it was, back when I could still reliably get a picture on it anyway...

So what is the takeaway from this? As others have said, the reason these screens appear to look differently is because of True Tone, so I'm not sure what exactly these pictures tell us in this regard. Is this just supposed to be a comparison between True Tone and no True Tone, or do you want to point out any other differences? I'm afraid we are missing a bit of context here on what exactly you want to compare or show us with this.

Dude seriously? There's a massive thread regarding this topic (see link below). The point was to just provide an actual side-by-side comparison, an item which was lacking in the other thread, so that people can see it for themselves. I have no vested interest in your interpretations about it. At the very least, I was hoping to provide a contribution to this discussion and/or the community rather than just conjecture. The very least anybody could do is express gratitude for thoughtfulness.

Wouldn't you want to do a comparison with an actual picture or is it more noticeable to do it with a mostly white background?

That actually is some good context: you want to help with the discussion of potential differences of LG and Samsung MBP screens, which was entirely non-obvious from the original post. ;) (Especially since in that case, it seems to me like a comparison with True Tone off on both models would have been more helpful as it conceals any differences between the display panels itself which might or might not have been visible otherwise...)

I'm not sure if this is directed towards me or the other guys who asked for the point of this comparison before me, but in case you were wondering, yes I was being serious. I wasn't asking for some rigorous interpretations of the result which you seemed to think, I was just asking for a bit of context on what exactly you are aiming to compare here which was lacking in your original post, as was the other guy before me; and since you are specifically asking for gratitude, you have to admit that it would be easier to express gratitude if we actually knew what we are thanking you for. ;)
