Tried the isopropryl alcohol fix on the home button. Worked great. Must have had a ton of crud underneath the home button. Always thought it was a software issue, but it definitely was a hardware issue.

For those of you having issues, give it a try - it might just work.
 
This is what I did:

1. Turn iphone off
2. Dab some alcohol on your finger
3. Rub the alcohol vigorously around the edges of the button. Push down on the button to make sure the alcohol penetrates inside.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 two more times.
5. Wait for alcohol to dry.
6. Turn iphone on.

Again, this is what worked for me and may not work for everyone. I got this idea from the following Youtube video. It’s worth a shot!!
