Hey guys. I'm late to the party as usual, but I am finally getting a 6+ on Tuesday. It's in the mail now. I currently have the 5s. All this is through VZW. My Mom is going to take over my 5s line when I get the new phone. She has not had an iPhone before. What do you guys recommend as far as how I need to go about switching my account to the 6+ and then setting her up an account on the 5s? I can't wait till my plus comes!

Congratulations! I got my 6+ a week ago and I like it a lot (with certain exceptions).

For you, back up to iCloud. Then when you get the new phone restore from iCloud on the new phone. Then (once you are certain you have all your data across) Erase All Content and Settings on the old phone and give to your mom.

Mom will need to create her own Apple ID to have access to the App store and iCloud.

First off, congrats on the new phone. It's quite a jump in size, but if you keep in mind that you have to use the 6 plus differently than a 5s, you will love it.

Unless you have massive hands, the 6 plus has to be used with two hands at least from time to time.

I would suggest backing up to iCloud, then restoring to the 6 plus when it arrives. You could do a backup and restore through iTunes, but a lot of times, that ends up giving the new phone problems.

Either way you will enjoy the new phone.

Ty eyoungren! I Was pretty sure that was all there was to it really but I wanted to be sure. I hope I can get my mom used to the 5s without too much issue. She isn't very good at these things. Lol!

Thanks capathy! I def am prepared and have no issues with using 2 hands with the phone. The size is why I wanted it so bad. It doesn't bother me at all that it's not really a one handed size.

If all your mom uses the phone for is web browsing, email and texting then keeping the phone stock won't be an issue.

But if she wants Facetime, iMessage or access to the App store she's going to need to create an Apple ID. Apple makes that easy though.

Good luck!

Yeah she just uses it for pretty basic stuff, so I wont have to worry about too many apps or anything. But she is excited about getting it. Of course she is prob most excited about the box FULL of cases I have accumulated for it. Lucky her!

Did Apple finally make you a 4" Black Slate 6 Plus?! lol

Seriously though I thought you were never getting a new iPhone? :)

No, no, LOL!

I'm stuck on Sprint, so I finally decided "the hell with it" I want an upgrade since I'm stuck here. I still intensely dislike the bands and the gray, but oh well.

If I had the money I'd get the case swapped out for that black matte case I've linked to in the past.

Why didn't u wait until the new one is coming out 3 months later ?
The iPhone 5s is still a very good phone! Unless you're rich ;)

I didn't wait because I would not have the money even then for the newest phone. I had to get something $0 down. I was able to the 6+ on Verizon Edge. The bigger screen I needed badly, it will help with my eyesight being what it is with the small screen.

Fair enough but you wouldn't be able to read this? I think it's the same as the 6 plus but the 6 plus is much more spaced out rather than the 5th generation is more squashy :D but yeah enjoy!

I got my 6+! It's fantastic!

Yea it really is. I picked up a 6 yesterday for my mom and used it for a day just to compare it to my 6 plus. The 6 is nice but once you get used to a bigger screen and sharper display, it's hard to go back. Not to mention the massive difference in battery life. The 6 plus is the superior device for me.
