I think people have every right to expect Apple kit to be as perfect as possible. Even if this is just based on how much they drone on about precision, craftsmanship, lovingly created, best tolerances in the industry etc etc. Perhaps if they didn't harp on about that so much, people wouldn't actually expect it when they buy.

Well, that. And the price.

I think it is great to expect greatness from Apple, and to be disappointed when it falls short in one's opinion. You are correct, Apple takes great pride in their quality and design, and they have created this high expectation.

When the wheels come off IMO is when people start ascribing nefarious purposes to these issues, saying things like Apple is insulting its customers, it doesn't care, and they are ripping us off. I understand there are some folks that are either prone to hyperbole or have a limited vocabulary, but that doesn't excuse all the hate they are pouring into Apple. It goes beyond amusing into irritating.

There are things Apple can and should improve. No doubt. But I for one prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt rather than accuse them of abandoning me, ignoring me, not caring, blah blah. It would be nice if we could have a mature and civil conversation about the things Apple could and should improve, and perhaps as customers send them a message/feedback, rather than descend into mindless banter about how terrible they are and how the are taking "advantage" of us.

Oh, and world peace while we're at it.
