Hope I made the right choice. I am upgrading from the 5th generation 2017 9.7" iPad with A9 processor. I got the iPad Air for $475 (64GB Wifi) at my local Walmart inclusive of taxes and with Associate discount, which was the best deal I could find at this time.

I just upgraded from an iPad Air 2. It’s a fantastic tablet. Fast, fluid, love the screen, it’s all I needed. I don’t care for the camera or speakers so the choice was easy.

I plan on doing the same for two family members! They have their own 5th generation 9.7 inch iPads just like you do!

I bought an iPad Pro (64gb wifi) during the 2018 BlackFriday event at BestBuy for $525.

It’s a great iPad sitting nicely between the regular and iPad Pros in terms of price, features and performance. IMHO a very good choice and a massive step up from your 2017 9.7”.

Have the same ipad 2017 a9 chip, definitely want the pencil support, never had an ipad with the laminated screen does it make a big difference from the 2017 screen ? which i think is a good screen.

Yeah the screen did make a difference. It's quite evident when you see them side by side. The Air's screen is definitely superior.

I made the same upgrade. The new Air is terrific. Though to be fair, my old air 2 was still running well also.

I got a new air3 for my mother and she loves it. She was using an original Air from 2014 so the jump was massive for her. The screen is gorgeous so you won’t feel left out. I will admit that I went with the 11” Pro and got the pencil and love it. I will be very interested to see where Apple takes the new iPadOS and if the develop it in parallel to iOS or take advantage or more memory to push the capability that can be offered.

After one week with my Air 3 I just loved it as well. The performance is blazing fast and for some reason, the battery is one of the best I've seen on my iPads so far. But for some reason, my old first gen 12,9 iPad pro still open everyday apps (youtube, Xbox app etc) quicker than my Air 3. Its surely because of the 4GB of RAM but even so, its faster to open some apps compared to my XS max as well, strange.
