So I bought a 7+ about a month ago...it was a creaking clicking disaster with nasty camera lag. I returned it and reactivated my 6S+ until my local Apple store called me to say they got a couple of new 7+'s in this past weekend (Oct 22). I dropped by and bought the SIM free 256gb matte black 7+ and took it home to set it up.

The only issue with this second one would be a couple of small scratches just to the left of the front facing camera. Everything else checks out perfectly, no creaking or clicking, no whine or buzz, no yellow screen, no overall build quality issues, feels FAR sturdier and more rigid than the first 7+ by a long shot!!

I'm happy with this one and keeping it. The chances of me swapping this one out due to the scratches and getting another one without scratches AND without ANY other issues are near to impossible in my eyes.

This iPhone has 10.0.3 and I flat out refuse to break this phone installing 10.1 until I read otherwise here that ALL bugs are gone...

Are the scratches noticeable? There is nothing more annoying to me, when an any new electronic device arrives with scratches.

Hi guys,

The scratches are visible in sunlight or when I'm under or near LED/Halogen lighting. There are two scratches to the side of the front facing camera 1/8" in length. If the scratches were in the viewable area of the display it definitely would have gone back.

As we all know the availability of 256gb 7+ phones are near impossible to get and the fact that these scratches are off the viewable area of the screen and small I felt that I could end up going back and forth through a dozen more phones trying to find one that had ZERO issues. I just don't see that happening with Apple's quality control issues and inconsistency.

Most important to me I guess is that there is no creaking & clicking, bright white screen, no other build issues, no hissing, etc..

It is a damn shame that a company like Apple cannot get a grip on QC.

I am hold off a couple of months until stock improves and you do not just have to take it or leave it when you walk out of the store.

Can you post here the first 5 digit of your phone's serial number? This can almost tell you if its a display model or an engineering sample or a used one.

100% defect free iPhones are like three headed Unicorns

Eh, there are plenty of them. The person we're talking about seems to be continually unhappy with everything about their iPhone/iPad/MacBook Pro. It's more of an issue with unrealistic expectations than actual defects.

On my third replacement jet black 7+ and it is perfect, surprisingly the best iPhone in terms of build quality and issues I have had since the iPhone 4.
