Finally saw some credible leaks showing the A11X CPU at 7nm 8 Cores But no A12X. I am gonna skip the 2018 IPad Pro Unless it’s true Apple finally switches to USB-C.
We're expecting the iPad Pros to be released after the new iPhones. If they do stick to A11X for the iPad, then that would mean A11X will be released after A12. As overkill as performance may be, it kinda doesn't look good when the iPhone has more processing power than an iPad Pro released after it.Why would it be A12x?
In recent years, latest A comes to iPhones first, and iPads second in A-X form
We dont even have an A12 iPhone yet

A10x in my 2nd gen 12.9 is humming along nicely.. what do you need all that CPU tablet power for?

2014-10 A8X
2015-09 A9
2015-11 A9X
2016-09 A10
2017-06 A10X
2017-09 A11
2018-09 A12?
2018-10+ A11X?
Just sayin, all the meaningful updates will possibly held off for the 2019 IPad Pro such as
A12X And USB-C But if either one releases this year I’m in.
If they just add FaceTime and an A11X then no.
OR...So what your saying if Apple decides to "skip" the A11X NAME (the power of the chip in the device was decided long ago, and as you've pointed out no matter what the name its going to use the newest fabrication process) and uses the name A12X you'll get it?
Your deciding your iPad buy based on what Apple decides to name their piece of silicon?
OR...
if the connection port changes. #chargingportsmatter
Agree. The moment I saw that cable as an option I went ahead and bought one.I think we are more likely for a USB-C to lightning cable in the box in the coming years then we are to see the actual port change.
I hadn't heard that. Do you mean the solder points for a port or just the chipset to support it? If it is just the latter I suspect that's because lightening works very similarly to USB-C in that it has alternate modes. It is physically different but essentially already a USB-C port (with software restrictions).iPad Pro 10.5" and 12.9", iPhone 8 and X, already have a USB Type-C port controller on the logic board. This is clearly shown in teardowns.
If Apple had plans to include USB-C, it would already be there.
