Finally launched in Googles Playstore for only 59.99
WHEN apple comes out with wireless charging, they'll charge $99 for theirs.
But of course. Because unlike Google, they CAN.
More like Nexus 4 Wireless Ripoff, AMIRITE????
Google can, they just dont.
They can't, so they don't.
If Google was a product company, they'd be charging money for whatever "it" happened to be hand over fist. But they are a services company, and so they instead just accumulate data to sell back a services to others. That's their business plan and they are very up-front about it.
I was actually thinking that Google scooped up all of HP's leftover inventory of Touchstone chargers.
Sure they can. Do you see LG asking $349 off contract for their LG Optimus G which is the same phone as the Nexus 4? No, you dont because Google wanted to keep the price down. Sure they are upfront about how they make their money but still could ask more money for something with their name on it. And Nexus is their brand.
Apple wants your money while giving you the same made in china product as the other guys.
There will probably be deals on this in the near future. I'm waiting. Also waiting to see if I'll even be keeping the n4.
I was actually thinking they were the same thing, but the Palm Touchstone doesn't use Qi technology, it's a different kinda of induction charging.
Qi is better anyway, since it is a unified standard among the majority of OEM's. Google just decided to use a similar form factor to HP I guess.
Not available in the UK
Matias Duarte was the person behind the Palm Touchstone charger. Coincidentally he is now the head of Android user experience at Google.
That is quite disappointing, I also went straight to the playstore to try and purchase one but received the same message.
Where's the bang head smiley when ya want it?
Now to wait for them to show up on ebay listed for reasonable prices because it's not available in your country
What's the point of this? A charger is more portable. What if you have use the phone and take it off of the pad, it stop charging? Easier to use with a charger plugged in.
Since Nokia announced the wireless charging on its Lumias I always thought it was a gimmick.
Great points. Everyone should immediately stop selling wireless chargers. Don't know what they were thinking. What a gimmick.
Mine came in the mail today so I made a short unboxing video.
Ah you miss one of the main great points of most if not all Android phones, NO BS proprietary charger cablss. Take off without your charger? No worry, any old micro USB charger or USB plug on a computer will do and you can find a USB cable and just about any store, shop, gas station etc.
The wireless charger idea is great, just drop the phone on it and walk way, grab and go when heading out. No wires or connectors to deal with, just drop and go.
Wow - now that is some hardcore fanboyism! One of the "main great points"
Kudos to you for stretching the limits.
Far from a fanboy since I wrote that from my mbp while watching my apple TV. Why did my post offend you? Face it that fact is a micro USB is a universal cable available everywhere. No need to carry a special cable just for one device. Fact is fact you don't have to be a fanboy to appreciate that.
But thanks for playing. I love you guys that think any time some says something good about android they are a fanboy.
So yes I love the fact that I can charge my BT headset, S3. n7 and company blackberry all from the same cable. So on my desk I have two charges one that works for three devices and one for, yep my iPhone only.
For me micro USB JUST WORKS for most of my stuff, and Apple has to be unique which it a pita.
I feel his assessment is accurate. The only redeeming quality to the iPhones proprietary cable connection is that the iPhone is so popular. If it wasnt a proprietary port would be a massive headache. I had a dozen micro USB cables before I ever had a smartphone.
Your post didn't offend me. I thought it was just over the top. I understand now that standard USB is very important to you.
Sorry wrong quote.
Is this a Qi based product? I wonder if the S3/Note 2 wireless charging retrofit would work with this product.
