I too just bought the 12' Powerbook, referb from Amazon's Warehouse_Deals for $960 shipped! (The box just happens to be missing the iLife disk, I could return it but I'll live without the disk.) I too have also noticed the text in Word X is very very small (thought I messed something up when first creating a Word document) and the tool bars do not fit on the screen very well. But when plugging it in to my new Sceptre X20G-NAGA III 20.1' widescreen from Costco for $379 all is well. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Can anyone compare the Dell 2005FPW with the Sceptre X20G-NAGA III? The Sceptre has only 2 inputs, VGA and SVI with crappy built in speakers and no USB/Firewire hub.

i think you made an excellent purchase. the 12" powerbook is a great machine. enjoy it.

I have the same machine and i LOVE IT...you are too...Sometimes i think man did i make the right choice becuz every1 is always saying how much better the 15" is..but when i go to the apple store...its just soo big and the 12" is so perfect...i take it everywhere with me and i love it.....Congrats!..

I also recently bought a 12" PowerBook from the online store, an upgrade from the 1.2GHz 12" iBook that I was using.

And I love this machine. I was waiting for updated intel 'Books at macworld, but couldn't justify spending the money on the MacBook Pro.

Besides, while I would like the larger screen while sitting at my desk, prefer the widescreen format, etc., I think that for portability the 12" PB is the best computer I've used. The 15" are just to large for practacal university use, IMO. Not just for the size weight in your bag, but have you seen the tiny desks that they cram you into at most schools these days?!?

I opted for the superdrive model (even though I have an external Lacie at home). and my fiance got the "old" iBook, and we have a windows free house now...

best purchase that i've made in a while.

Wow. I just ordered a 12'' re-furb PB to replace my 12'' i book-which I gave to my wife. And now we too have a windows free household.

Thanks, it makes me feel much better.
And I only paid 1,099 for it! :D
I just bought the very same Powerbook at the same price. I could not be any happier. I was working on a G3 iBook so this is an upgrade for me, regardless of the intel hoopla. I wanted something that will satisfy all my needs and I got that and then some. You won't be disappointed.

That's an unbelievably low price!! And here I thought I got the best deal.

I think this really depends on your usage.

i agree. i spend most of my time in programmes like FCP, Motion, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop, so the resolution was the one thing that stopped me from getting the 12". the 15" is fine for me, for this reason. it's the best mix of screen resolution and portability. sooo much better than all those 15" windows based beasts too

12" powerbook

I bought my 12" powerbook back in November (I think) the day of the anouncements of the price reductions for the 12" with superdrive and the new 15" powerbooks with the 'improved' screen. I have left it on for most of that time using it at my office and then bringing it home. At both locations I have 19" LCD monitors and wireless keyboard and mouse. A GREAT SET UP! Only use the 12" screen when in between locations. NO problems with case warping, and the 12" can't be beat as far as portability. You will love it. Lastly, both locations I use Icurves to place it on and span the monitors.:)
