Congrats. A great machine that you will love, especially with the 780 graphics, and Fusion drive. (Not that it diminishes the machine, or to rain on your parade, but for accuracy's sake, that is a Sep 2013 unit, which is still current at the moment).

You may want to consider investing in an Uninterruptible Power Supply, or UPS. The lower end models can be had for as little as ~$50, and could be saving your bacon one day. If you require longer runtimes, or want to hook up more peripherals, they tend to become bulkier and pricier though.

Enjoy your new iMac!

Nah don't worry :) yeah i know there is likely a new model around the corner but i could always be saying that so had to take the plunge eventually , hopefully this mac will see me though for 5 years + :)

Have no fear, you've got a great desktop coming!

Besides, there's nothing groundbreaking on the immediate horizon. Retina is still at least a year, if not longer away, and Broadwell is not expected till sometime next spring, so if a minor refresh were to materialize this fall, the only likely improvements might be a very minor Haswell processor speed bump, and the inclusion of TB2. Cheers!

you state this with such conviction and yet other people that state a retina iMac will appear soon are dismissed as knowing nothing.....theoretically its possible now with a 980M GPU, 4 or 5K screen, TB2 and Haswell that a new iMac could be released soon.....so not sure where you get your info from...

Is it theoretically possible iMacs with hi-res screens and killer graphics could be released soon? Absolutely. Is it likely? Personally, I don't believe so.

As far as info is concerned, the prices of (IPS) 3840 x 2160 UltraHighDefinition panels (not exactly the same as 4K's native 4096 x 2160 resolution btw) are still so high that common sense would dictate including them (together with appropriate graphics of course) in an iMac at this time, would price these desktops out of the market.

Alternatively, it's hard to imagine Apple putting the cheaper TN panels in their iMac desktops, just so they could boast of having a Retina iMac. We both know, that's not how Apple operates.

Based upon the above, I do not believe r-iMacs are imminently going to be introduced, however Apple-branded Hi-res monitors such as a revamped Cinema or TB display could very well be a reality anytime soon simply because they are in a different price category, and are more geared towards the Pro market.

Also panels suitable for the above higher-priced monitors have by now come down enough, to make these revamped displays feasible, and after well over three years since their last update, they would certainly be welcomed by many MacPro owners who have been patiently waiting, but currently have to shop elsewhere for monitors that can do justice to their high end graphics cards.

Btw, if stating one's opinion equates to dismissing other posters as knowing nothing, this forum and many others like it, are in trouble.

The near future might prove me wrong, in which case you can gloat over it and keep reminding me, how wrong I was, I will then also gladly eat my words.

I'll be getting one next month. Lets hope those rumors are true about some sort of upgrade in the next 31 dats with a media event, :Dare true in my case and false, for you ; /
