problem for sc2 on new mac pro

hey so yeah..like above I have 15inch i7 Macbook Pro with Nividia GT 330M...and I have alot of lag during all high settings and all medium settings. Is this a graphics card faulty? or just that OSx can't support "such a high quality" game?

OP what are your temps while playing for a while?

my 2010 13" mpb hits 89c max and then stays around 80 ish while playing gta iv.. cpu hits 80 but generally stays below

i'd like to know what kinda heat is acceptable for the gpu, i dont wanna damage it :(

my old HP laptop hits temps above 100c but that was an ati card + an amd cpu so it's completely different platforms lol ( that thing was loud and hottt. HP = never again)

Here are the comparison (see fps counter top left)

30fps gain. All the settings are the same expect shadows. Shadows kills the fps, you see. Look at units, buildings and minerals, shadows are gone, but you gain 30fps, i say its worth it.

So picture 1:

Shaders: Medium
Shadows: Medium
Texture quality: Medium

Result: 28 fps

Picture 2:

Shaders: medium
Shadows: off (using text file explained in first post)
Texture quality: medium

Result: 60+fps

Rest of the settings are the same on both pics

Awesome thread, thanks. 60+ fps on medium seems very good indeed. What's the fps drop like if you start pushing settings to high? Shadows disabled, of course :)

I don't either. Performance on OS X is miserable.

I think they are being a bit optimistic. I can barely run SC2 on medium settings in OSX (15" Core i7 MBP/2.66 GHz/ 4GB ram/ 330m GT with 512 MB vram). When I say barely I mean during any kind of battle i get lag (<20 fps) and even sometimes just mining minerals it will be less than 30 fps.

On Win7 64-bit I can run everything on Ultra except for shaders and lighting (high) and i get about 30-35 FPS consistently.

EDIT: on the last mission of the crystal i had to lower the settings to medium and shaders to low on the count of ... well you know... My main mac pro had to be lowered down also so im guessing its the missions fault on the count of... well you know...

Interesting, thanks for that. Really doesn't look like that much of a difference (visually i mean...the fps boost is fantastic!) Also just so you know, you can hit ctrl+alt+f to toggle the built-in fps display. You don't need fraps for that.

what?? how is that even possible. I have a 15" i7 4gigs of ram and 330 512mb and everythings set on high. not even a hiccup. I have a SSD and antiglare hi-res display.

I seriously doubt that high and med performance diff is because of SSD albeit i can relate to it making some difference...
