So, it would be like Apple to not upgrade the current Mac Pro lineup at all between and a possible Gulftown launch if that was Q1/Q2 2010?

If Gulftown is coming, and Apple gets exclusive access to these chips for any period of time at all, that means that new Mac Pros will release on the schedule of the Gulftown?

Gulftowns are expensive aren't they? $1000+

There is nothing to update at the moment. The next update was always going to be Gulftown based on their past behaviour.

I don't see this as that exciting as the exclusivity didn't really mean much with Nehalem's. No 3.2GHz option, 8 DIMM slots instead of 9 or 12 and a number of hardware issues and increased prices. Granted none of them may relate directly to it, but it didn't bring anything special last time.
