Update the new software or leave as is?

I don't like the new Heart Rate behavior in 1.0.1, but updated anyway - there are some benefits in 1.0.1 over 1.0.
The logic here is that I will have to update anyway at some point (like when native apps are supported), being on 1.0 forever is not an option.

I would update it. It does seem to have a bug with the heart rate monitor, but generally the watch seems faster and more responsive.

According to 9to5mac Apple made that change on purpose, the heart rate only measures while your arm is not moving unless you are in an activity mode.

The "why" is all assumptions at this point. One commenter suggestion is to better get your resting heart rate, which makes sense.

I would and will on Monday update.

No, that doesn't make sense. Your actual resting heart rate is best taken when you first wake up in the morning. The rest of those heart rates that the watch is taking are somewhat meaningless unless you're trying to get a picture of how your heart rate fluctuates over a day, and you can't do that if the watch is simply not taking them because you decided to walk your dog or go to the grocery store. It also makes the chart in the health app meaningless.

As the update also introduced a message notification bug, if I could go back and do it again, I would not update. Hopefully the next update will fix the bugs.

My watch hasn't updated the heart rate information since 1:50 pm. I haven't been in an "activity mode" for almost 3 hours...

Just received a new SS 42mm (Week 20) yesterday. It shipped with 1.0.

I won't be updating yet. Maybe I'll wait until 1.0.2. My previous AW on 1.0.1 didn't feel any faster or get better battery life.

Edit: except for the Standing ring. It was more accurate on 1.0.1

I can report back on that right now ..... NONE.

Watch OS will be 1.0

Since you had to be so pretentious about it…

Here's the SystemVersion.plist from Watch OS 1.0.1:

So it is iOS, a special build of 8.2.1. It's simply the marketing version that's Watch OS 1.0.1

Finally watch arrives Monday. Update new software or not?

I have a 38mm SGS coming Monday, I'll report back which iOS is installed.
Just received my 38mm SGS, and iOS 1.0 has been confirmed. Hopefully, my other 42mm SGS coming in next couple of weeks will be the same. No updating for me right now.

Depends whether you value HR taken on a more consistent basis.

I'd say keep it on 1.0 at first and see what you like and what you don't like. You might enjoy 1.0 and actually prefer the HR monitoring in 1.0 (I know I did). You can always update to 1.01 whenever, there's no rush.

My wife got hers today, and it already has 1.0.1. Good news for me, I like the update and didn't have to update hers for her.

My SS BSB arrived today, built week 20.
It is on 1.0, as of now I do not plan to update because of the 1.01 HR behavior.
Hoping they "fix" his in 1.02 so that HR is taken at regular 10-minute intervals again.

Mine came yesterday and its Week 16 (week leading up to release) and I had to update to 1.0.1. Took ages relatively speaking, I just wanted to play with my watch.

(think Apple picked mine up from a factory floor in Japan where it was dropped and forgot about)

Just also received another SGS 42mm this time, ordered 5/11, delivered on 6/9 with week 23 production date, and this one has OS 1.0.1 preinstalled
