From Engadget, AT&T website's Find a Store service has now been updated with additional criteria.

You can now search for stores that will sell the iPhone. You can type in your city, state, or zip code and find which AT&T stores will definitely have iPhones.

For those standing in line on Friday, you can visit our Meetup Forum to meet with other MacRumors members local to your region.

Bah. Now my master plan of telling people to go to the wrong store is ruined!

Are you sure this means they will sell the iPhone on Friday, or does it just mean they will at some point stock the iPhone?

If they are telling people where iPhones are, all the better come friday. If you activate your iPhone at home however, I see no benefit in going through with the drudgery of going to an AT&T store. I imagine most people will buy theirs from an apple store.
I assume that the situation will be the same from an AT&T store - they'll just hand you a phone, and off you go.

That's good they put up an easier way of pinpointing exactly which stores will be receiving and distributing iPhones.

LOL I was just using this and the reason I was here was to let everybody know about it while thinking to myself yeah they already know and that Im stupid for just now realizing it

300 yards from iPhone

Same distance as I am to the beach from my office. Life is :) good here in FL. We even have Apple stores within 20 miles.

There's 3 ATT stores here in Wichita that will be selling them. I won't be buying, but I'll be looking out for lines outside the store by me.

Only 3.57 miles from an iPhone!!

PS didn't realize it but i became a member like 3 posts ago :)

Congrats on being a member now. Keep on postin'

I'm 2.48 miles from my closest store. That's dangerous!!!

Thank you AT&T for making such a simple change to your website. I wonder how many calls this will eliminate... Wait, a phone company helping to reduce the amount of calls made; fascinating! :D

The "Find a Store" link is not working for me, and I even tried to navigate to it from AT&T's site.

Cyberspace is crashing down on hype

It seems that att removed the page (oops ? ) - I suspect maybe that was supposed to be put up tomorrow, or maybe it was 'buggy' and they just pulled it until they get it fixed.

"Page Not Found
Sorry, there is no Cingular.com page matching your request. It is possible you typed the address incorrectly, or that the page no longer exists."

When I first clicked the link it was an ugly text error, so it looks like they hastily removed the page and then put up the more formal error it's displaying now. Oh well.

Funny. the main Find a Store link on their site, is PAGE NOT FOUND.

haha. Got to love it all. I'm amazed that ATT, as big as they are and as many people have been involved with it all, have honestly done a good job at following Apple's rules.

Very cool.

Actually, that's because the single, proxied server that they had supporting the Find a Store functionality collapsed under the onslaught from sites like this. (Yes, really. The Find a Store feature was likely on one very low powered system or VM.)

It wasn't because they released it accidentally and needed to pull it. It's because a bunch of people are freaking out pounding the site to search for AT&T stores at which iPhone will be sold, even though they already know exactly where they're getting it.

They deliberately redirected the link to the site map/404 page because it couldn't handle the load. And no, it's not all on "one server"; as I said, the Find a Store functionality was clearly proxied, as evidenced by the proxy errors before the redirected the page.

;-)

I'm not freaking out and it still didn't work for me either. I also don't know where I might get one...:(
