Find me an iPhone 4 in LA?

I know it's likely a fruitless endeavor, but with the possibility for an unlock now looking good I would really love to get an iPhone 4 here in the states before I leave for australia tomorrow. I'm stuck in the Los Angeles area until tomorrow night; any tips would be much appreciated (and yes, I am eligible for an upgrade on at&t).
 
Call the new Apple store in Cerritos.. Check Best Buy's, Walmarts and Radio shacks.. If you want one, you can find one!
 
I've tried all the stores around here to no avail (apple stores).. tried a best buy to no luck either.. I have a *really* slow internet connection that is making even just getting phone numbers painful... can anyone post up some numbers to try? Also, this apple store in Cerritos... which one is that?
 
...one other thing to keep in mind is that I'm carless and stuck around LAX.. So I'm stuck with public transportation for wherever I need to go. I'm willing to put some legwork into this; I have all day and its my only goal... any help would be *much* appreciated though!

Call every walmart in your area. The ones in my town have been getting 2-4 every day.
 
Thanks for the tips guys; last wal mart I tried didn't even answer. Finally got google loading and found the number for the los cerritos store; on hold atm.

And since you are stuck in the LAX area without a car, get the shuttle to the Green Line Light Rail. From there, you can connect to a number of the Stores in the greater LA area by way of the rail system.

...Still on hold for the los cerritos store (...going on 26minutes now...), not a good sign!

Anyways, I got the walmart locator to load, but bestbuy's just leaves me with a blank page... tried 3 times now.

While it's too late for your trip tomorrow, why didn't you just order one from AT&T?

I ordered my 16GB from AT&T's website on 7/6, got the shipment notification the evening of 7/7, and it was delivered on the afternoon of 7/8. No waiting in lines, no calling every WalMart & Best Buy in a 150 mile radius. Easy.

The original plan was to buy one unlocked in australia once they come out (which will likely still be what I end up doing)... But with planetbeing announcing a successful unlock, I now have some hope of using an at&t locked iPhone in australia with a local sim.. which would save me about $600 (compared to buying one in AUS unlocked).
 
BTW, Thanks for the best buy numbers PUCCY! Trying a few now... I'm Keeping the list in post 15 updated, so if anyone does feel ambitious enough to call a store or two, post your results here!

It's not that easy. You just got lucky. AT&T is suppose to be filling orders on a first come, first serve basis. However, some orders are still backordered from 7/3-7/5, while others that ordered on 7/9 are already delivered. AT&T seems to be doing it completely random - it's weird. I'm also aware that 32GB models seem to be shipping FASTER than 16GB ones. I placed my order with AT&T on 7/12 and I'm still backordered. Probably won't get it til at least early next week.

I've called everywhere in Chicagoland area - it's impossible to walk into a store and find one. It's like walking into a target and finding a Wii on the shelf during it's holiday release. Almost impossible, but one or two random people will find one.

Also by reading AT&T forums, AT&T hasn't released anyone from backorder status today, which leads me to believe that AT&T hasn't received any stock from Apple today.
 
Why not just order it at AT&T or apple and then it comes, you'll have it.

No muss no fuss. Of course its not instant gratification but you'll not be bouncing off the walls trying to find one.
