iPad Pro “Find My” app says “No Location Found” but “play sound” works?

Lost an iPad Pro (gen 4, Wi-Fi only) - in Find My app it says it is playing sound, but still does not show location. Does that seem odd? I assumed if it could be pinged by the app that a location could be estimated.

How does all this work?

The Find My app, very unfortunately, is flawed. I just tried to play a sound on my iPhone 5s which is turned off. It still says that a sound is being played after some seconds of “connecting”.
So, the sound isn’t played on your iPad. Did you put it into lost mode?

thanks for that info. Yes, I put it into lost mode.

I suppose I need an airtag on everything now?
